Capital planning is an enormous procedure that takes a wide range of angles to run. While capital planning is one of the most significant viewpoints in human services fund, it is likewise an expansive theme. A security is a financing device that is utilized when a guarantor gives an announcement to the payee for cash and a premium installment is made to the payee at specific occasions. At the point when an association experiences the procedure of giving a bond, they experience six significant strides to achieve bond giving and decide if this is the best choice at that point. Prior to giving a bond, the backer looks at their capital arrangement and decides if a bond is required monetarily. Next, the backer ganders at the choices for payees inside bond issuance and is then inspected by a FICO assessment office to check whether their FICO rating is sufficiently high to give a bond. In the wake of being analyzed by the FICO assessment organization, the bond itself is inspected by the office and after it is affirmed, the borrower is given terms and conditions to acknowledge from the borrower. The last advance that an association must experience to issue is to sell the bond. These are offered to the payer where they give the cash required for the particular sum. While bonds are an incredible method to oversee obligation and become monetarily secure, renting is another way that human services offices deal with their obligation. Learn about our editorial policy Arlin Cuncic Updated on July 14, 2019 Social Anxiety Disorder Overview Symptoms & Diagnosis Causes Treatment Living With In Children Victor Pontes / Getty Images Thinking of  silly things  to do in public might seem like the last thing you would want to do if you live with social anxiety disorder (SAD). However, it just might be the best way to start overcoming your fears. Doing silly things in public could be considered a type of behavioral experiment, which is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).  The key when it comes to social anxiety is to choose something to do that would normally embarrass you or that you would try to avoid. Start small and build up your ability to do these types of silly things. Do the easier ones first and the harder ones later. Ideally, these silly things make you feel a little or a lot embarrassed but dont hurt anyone else. Unlike your typical habit of avoidance, your goal with this task is to become embarrassed or to have others judge you. Silly, Embarrassing Things to Do in Public to Help Overcome SAD Below is a list of 20 silly things to do in public  to get started. Dance in public as though there is music. Pick your favorite song (maybe something with a bit of get up and go like Footloose) and start dancing around like a fool. Hope that people take notice.Ask someone for directions to the place where you already are. When they explain your embarrassing mistake, give a big smile and say Thank you! That makes it so much easier.Pretend to fall down. Then have trouble getting back up.Intentionally forget someones name. Then apologize. You dont want to hurt the other persons feelings.Pretend to recognize someone you dont know.  Walk up and say Hey James, how are you doing? The other person will quickly tell you that youve made a mistake.  Sing in public. Loudly. Smile while you do it.Pay entirely with pennies. Count slowly and dont apologize.Ask for directions and then go the opposite way. Leave the direction-giver bewildered.Read a magazine or book upside down. Do this on a bus or in a mallâ€"anywhere that you are likely to get some odd looks.Wear something outlandish or completely out of character for you. A wide-brimmed sombrero comes to mind. When others comment on your attire, say What do you mean?Ask for a discount on something. Do this somewhere that it seems completely inappropriate, such as a grocery or department store. Can I get a better price on those bananas? The goal is not to get the discount but to embarrass yourself. Act as though there is nothing unusual about your request.Try to sell your stuff to telemarketers when they call you. Dont take no for an answer.Go to McDonalds and order a Whopper. When the cashier explains that they dont sell Whoppers, look around, slap your forehead and say This looks just like the Dairy Queen. Sorry. Behaviors to Help Make You the Center of Attention While these were silly things to do, contemplate also doing things that challenge your social anxiety in that they draw attention to you. Rather than being silly, these behaviors are designed to make you the center of attention. You will soon realize, however, that people notice you (and the mistakes you make) much less than you think. Knock over your water in a restaurant.  Apologize profusely to the server and ask for napkins so you can clean it up afterward. Your goal is to draw attention to yourself, not to make the servers job harder.Go to a restaurant on your birthday and have them sing to you. Dont look at the table. Smile and look around the restaurant as you are made the center of attention.Press the wrong button for someone in an elevator. Do this on purpose. But, then apologize and press the right one.Pay with the wrong bills or change. Wait for the cashier to notice before correcting yourself.Show up late somewhere and make a spectacle of yourself. It might feel like the end of the world but its really not. Notice how little others really pay attention to what you do. A Word From Verywell The goal of these activities is to prove to yourself that you can make mistakes without it being a catastrophe. People with social anxiety view social situations as having strict rules of conduct, so it is important for you to break those down. Now go make some mistakes!

If I did not [earn a set amount] they punished me by removing my clothes and beating me with a stick until I fainted, electrocuting me, cutting me† (Global Sex Trafficking 1). This is the real-life testimony of a woman named Kolab, a sex trafficking survivor from Cambodia who shares her story with Equality Now, a female human rights advocate organization. Sucked into a world of fear, subjugation, and danger, Kolab demonstrates a lifestyle that no female would ever want to imagine-yet which for many women is their everyday reality. This strikingly high number is generated by â€Å"cash quotas imposed on victims, ranging from $100- $1000 night† (Sex Trafficking in the U.S 2). The profitability of the sex trafficking industry is comparable to the yearly income of McDonalds, also counting â€Å"$32 billion in revenue from franchise stores† as suggested by Business Insider’s annual report (Lubin 2). We will write a custom essay sample on Glitter On Our Eyes or any similar topic only for you Order Now Silly, maybe, to try look for Eleanor from this far away, but it didn’t really stop her. Finally the crowd began to disperse, and Max let out a sigh of relief. Her pom-poms fell to the ground without a second thought. In a single movement she reached down and picked her water bottle, twisting off the cap. Tilting her head back, Max drank so fast she was probably in danger of choking. Whatever. When she glanced back over to the other side of the field, Central High’s cheerleaders were nowhere to be seen. Her shoulders slumped; even a quick scan around revealed nothing. Maybe Eleanor was waiting for her outside the gate- â€Å"Hey,† said Allison, grabbing Max by her uniform’s collar before she could run off, â€Å"slow down, tiger. I’m sure she’ll come looking for you soon.† â€Å"Hey, yourself—you don’t get to call me that!† But Allison only swatted at Max’s long blonde ponytail. Out of the corner of her eye she could see a familiar figure, dressed in purple and gold, coming down the forty-yard line, and she had to pry Allison’s fingers off before— A shout of â€Å"Maxine!† was all she heard, and then a small dark figure landed in her arms. Max laughed and held on tight as she spun her girlfriend around several times. Their foreheads pressed against one another’s as Max brought them to a halt. â€Å"Eleanor, you know-† â€Å"Yes, yes, call you ‘Max’,† Eleanor said, tucking a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. â€Å"But I like Maxine better.† With the same hand she reached up and straightened the sparkly scrunchie in Max’s hair, then smiled when Max rolled her eyes. They both knew that Max didn’t mind when Eleanor called her by her full name, but damned if Max was going to admit it. One of Max’s teammates, Kenisha, called out, â€Å"Geez, Max, couldn’t you have found a girlfriend who wasn’t cheering for our rivals?† She gave Max a playful punch on the arm as she passed. Max set Eleanor back down on the ground. â€Å"But she’s just so cute!† Eleanor, though a head shorter than Max, had much fuller hips, which she used to hip check Max and send her stumbling several steps to the side. â€Å"Watch it!† â€Å"You deserved it.† The squad’s bags were stashed in the locker rooms behind the bleachers; Eleanor and Max walked down the small slope of grass, hand in hand, so Max could grab it along with her backpack. It didn’t take long for them to head out while Max said goodbye to her squad mates on the way. â€Å"We’re still going to grab some food first, right?† Eleanor asked as they left the stadium (â€Å"stadium† in the loosest sense of the word, Max had always thought). â€Å"Mom and Dad said I should be back by midnight, but since it’s Friday night†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Max couldn’t help but laugh and put an arm around Eleanor’s waist. â€Å"If you want to stay the night, you know that I’m not gonna object.† How to cite Glitter On Our Eyes, Papers

Pair Of Tickets Essays - Chinatown, San Francisco, The Joy Luck Club

Pair Of Tickets In "A Pair of Tickets" by Amy Tan the main character struggles because she is dealing with feelings of resentment for her mother, because her mother never told her of her older half sisters. She is bothered because she gets a feeling of family that as an American she has never known. This along with the fact that she was never told about her sisters by her now deceased mother makes her feel as if she had never really known her. She is also depressed by the way the rest of her family acts as if they remember her mother so well when she feels so distant to her. Throughout the entire story the theme of family is present. The main character feels distance from her family because they were all raised in the traditional Chinese ways while she was raised in a much more western environment. She is just beginning to feel Chinese herself. Tan says that"once you are born Chinese, you cannot help but feel and think Chinese" (160). I think that to her Chinese is the family that she never knew she had. This makes her feel resentment towards her departed mother. She feels that in order to make things right between her and her mother she need to go and do what her mother wanted to do and meet her long lost sisters. Even though she has never met these sisters it is obvious that she cares for them. If she did not care for them why would she have had her aunt write them a letter explaining there mothers death. They are bound by this new Chinese idea of family that the main character is now feeling because of her mothers death. The fact that her mother never told her about her older twin sisters also bothers her. She wonders to herself if she was a disappointment to her mother. She feels as if she had never really known her mother now. She also feels silly for many of the things that she said because she now knows how they must have made her mother feel. A good example of this is the time that her mother had suggested that they go back to China on a visit. Jing-Mei didn't want to go because of selfish reasons. If she had known that her mother had wanted to go back not just for fun but to ease her soul by looking for her long lost daughters her reaction probably would have been a different one. Her mother had kept a secret from Jing-Mae that had caused her much pain and Jing-Mae is struggling with why. The fact that she has sister has entirely changed her view of her mother and that is hard for anyone to cope with. She thinks that to know her mother now she needs to go meet this Skeleton from her mothers' closet. Jing-Mae is just like anyone else that has to deal with the shock of finding out something unusual about someone that they thought they knew well. The skeletons from her mothers' closet scare her but she feels that she need to face them in order to get back in touch with her departed mother. Dealing with these feelings is also helping her to get in touch with her Chinese ancestry. She doesn't feel like she held family as highly as her mother had wanted her to and by getting in touch with them now she is learning about herself and her mother at the same time.

Market Revolution essays

Market Revolution essays The United States today which is a worlds largest economy and largest natural resources land. I am going to talk about the Market Revolution during 1815-1860. Where as during late 1815Â ¡s the US economy was still dependent on England, exported and imported manufactured goods, geared toward international trade, no domestic trade. And majority of farmers were subsistence/ Yeoman basically were independent farms. By 1860s the subsistence farmers transform into commercial farmers, transitioned into national economy, developed an industrial sector an second only to England, able to better export nations natural resources, and was the large domestic consumer market which generated far more wealth then it had been. Describe a situatio in which you showed your leadership Essay

Describe a situatio in which you showed your leadership - Essay Example During these months, my FOBS group would end up coming to school, taking classes, having lunch, and go back home unlike other native students involved in different activities and events. However, with effective utilization of my intellectual maturity and leadership skills, I began to indicate my dissatisfaction of such confrontation to myself, and decided to stop others to treat me as an invisible in the school. With such determination, I began to think of an idea that would enable me to alter such perspective of native students in the school. While crossing streets of Chinatown on Chinese New Year’s eve, I came across a very delicate Chinese knot representing good luck that spontaneously inclined my mind towards a very new concept of starting an ‘Asian Arts and Crafts Club’ along with support of my friends from the FOBS group. With a new wave of motivation and excitement, I convinced my friends to support me in establishing the group. Although my friends were Chinese, however, we lacked many traditional skills, therefore, I arranged an instructor who taught us different ways of creating Chinese artwork, which put a new ray of enthusiasm in us, and now, we had a purpose rather than only coming to school and going out for the shopping. During the lessons, I learnt new things while having fun, and with this observation, I came up with slogan of our club, ‘learn with fun,’ as everyone enjoyed process of acquiring different traditional skills during the sessions. Another difficult phase was acquiring official status for the group, which was the most complicated phase, as school management had mostly rejected such appeals. However, with effective utilization of my presentation skills, I was successful in persuading the school management to allow us to establish an official club in the school, and finally, after huge efforts of three months, I, as the

Sanctification Based on Calvins Theology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Sanctification Based on Calvins Theology - Essay Example The first part will try to define morality while the succeeding section will tackle about the different meanings attributed to sanctification, giving emphasis on what is taught by Calvinism. In light of this, the issue that links sanctification with morality will be examined through a discussion on the definition of morality. This paper will conclude with its findings. In the strictest sense, morality refers to "which is innately regarded as right or wrong (Morality 2006)." There isn't a concise meaning associated with morality as it often refers to set of judgments and principles shared by individuals in within the same culture, religion, and philosophical concepts which separates and identifies actions which are right or wrong, acceptable and unacceptable. The concept of morality is often used by groups to regulate the functioning of their circle by setting a specific standard by which their members are subjected. In other words, the concept of morality serves as a regulating factor in maintaining the harmony in a group. We can see a problem of morality given this definition. We can see that morality varies from culture to culture, religion to religion, and sometimes even from individual to individual. Some actions are considered acceptable by a culture, while others see the same action as immoral. Examples of these are abortion, white lie, and euthanasia. Some groups and individuals consider these as permissible while others question the morality of such actions. Calvin's Theology John Calvin is one of the most famous theologian and ecclesiastical statesman. Through his revolutionary beliefs and teachings, he became the major French Protestant Reformer and was dubbed as the "most important figure in the second generation of the Protestant Reformation." His ideas of Christianity are found in his famous work Institutio Christianae Religionis (Institutes of the Christian Religion). John Calvin laid out the foundation of Calvinism which is one of the major factors that influenced the formation of the modern world (John Calvin 2002). One of the most important doctrines contained in Calvin's theology is the doctrine of original sin which is adopted from the Augustinian teachings. This doctrine supports the idea that the whole mankind has fallen before God when Adam and Eve fell prey to the temptation in the Garden of Eden. The sin committed by the first man is denoted as the original sin. At that point, sin entered the heart of men and everyone born on this earth has the original sin. Sin is what separates man from his creator. Therefore, the fall of man in the Garden of Eden makes man a slave of sin and every human being has an inclination to commit sin (The Teachings of John Calvin 2000). Institutes of the Christian Religion states that: When the will is enchained as the slave of sin, it cannot make a movement towards goodness, far less steadily pursue it. (2.3.5) Man alone has no power to save himself from sin. Even though his freewill was not removed from him, he cannot resist the urge to commit sin. However, God's great love and compassion for mankind made a remedy for this situation. Through the Son of God Jesus Christ, man was freed from the burden of sin. Calvin refers to this process as justification. Through this justification, man's original sin is forgiven. John Calvin also put forward that another

Reducing energy consumption in hospitality

Reducing energy consumption in hospitality Introduction In recent years the environmental issues and energy saving methods have become increasingly important towards tourism and hospitality industry. Hotel energy consumption depends on various factors such as geographical location, size, class, equipments, occupancy and age of facilities. In this report it includes the methods of reducing energy consumption in hotels at a management level, followed by current legislations towards controlling environmental issues, in addition it shows how the building design and structure of hotels can help with environmental issues. How energy consumption can be reduced on a management level In order to build up an efficient energy system the hotels should, re think, re-use, reduce, recycle, recover and rationalise the resources. In fact those practices should be followed in every single department throughout the organisation. Such as housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, room division, front office should participate individually towards energy consumption process. Below are the actions that should be taken, in order to build a healthy and energy efficient environment. Employees contribution One major step towards reducing energy consumption is to plan a staff awareness programme throughout every department, it is important because their daily contact with guests gives them the opportunity to increase the awareness of the guests. Include the environmental messages on gifts (such as mugs) to employees. Encourage staff to switch off lights and switch off unnecessary equipments (computers, air conditioners) when leaving staff rooms. Get staff ideas about energy conversation methods and environmental issues in staff meetings. (www.gogreentravelgreen.com) Allocate coordinators towards environmental activities. Allocate designated members of staff who will be responsible for daily monitoring water/gas/electricity consumption. Furthermore the hotel can fix separate consumption meters in each department in order to have a better view and control of energy. For an example, it should be daily practise with all employees of the hotel to switch off all lights when leaving an empty room. At the end of a working day, all unused office appliances should be turned off at mains and not to be left on standby. Furthermore providing computers, printers with a power down features can reduce 60% energy than regular electronic equipments. On top of that encourage staff to use emails where possible instead of printing. (www.businesslink.gov.uk) Gaining Guests contribution Send an environmental message with reservation conformation messages. When guest check-in and check-out take couple of minutes to educate the guest about the hotels environmental effort. Leaving placards in guest rooms can save the use of unnecessary energy. This can encourage the guests to reuse their towels and bed sheets. Bed sheets washed every day in thousand of hotels in this world millions of gallons of water, electricity and tons of detergent. Sheets are customarily changed between guests. If you feel that your sheets need to be changed daily, please leave this card on your pillow each morning. Housekeeping will be pleased to accommodate you. PLEASE DECIDE YOURSELF Every day millions of gallons of water, electricity and tons of detergent is used to wash towels that have been used only once, A towel o the rack means Ill use it again, a towel o the floor or in the tub means please exchange. PLEASE DECIDE YOURSELF (www.greenhotels.com) Encourage the guest to switch off unnecessary electric items such as air conditioner, and use natural ventilation instead. Place recycle bins in guest rooms and hallways. Allow the guests to contribute an extra pound (Â £) towards a local environmental group. (Georgia hospitality environmental partnaship.1996) Lightning efficiency By replacing the excising bulbs with low energy consumption ones (florescent light bulbs), offers savings in energy costs. On top of that those bulbs have a longer life span than the ordinary light bulbs. Fix light reflectors that direct more light into the room. Using motion detectors for public area lighting (lobby), staff rest rooms, walk-in cooers and storage area can keep the unnecessary lights switched off. (www.4hoteliers.com) Install photovoltaic lighting systems (Georgia hospitality environmental partnaship.1996) for advertising signs, walkways, water fountains and remote outdoor areas. Use solar lamps in order to lighten the hotel garden area. Further by installing daylight sensors for garden area and other exterior lightning can save a massive load of energy consumption. (www.gogreentravelgreen.com) Use of Air conditioners (A/C) When the A/C competes with hot or cold air more energy is wasted. So do not cool more than necessary. Install timers and sensors in order reduce energy waste. Turn off the A/C when the weather is cooler. Close air gaps around doors and windows, and close all the unnecessary openings. Use higher energy efficiency rating equipments. Compare efficiency between gas and electric A/C equipments. Have the units checked yearly; spring is the best time before starting the heavy use in summer. Minimise the available heat sources (Below are methods to reduce heat sources) (My Ton.1996) Minimising heat sources Turn off lights and other heat producing sources that is not in use. Position heat producing sources such as lamps, television away from the thermostats. Cover windows (especially west and south facing) to reduce the heat Use window film to reduce the heat sources heading in to the rooms. Install timers and sensors for lights and other necessary electric equipments. (My Ton.1996) Reducing water consumption Provide Dual flush toilets to save water. Provide separate walk-in showers in order to encourage the guests to have a shower instead a bath; this saves both water and energy. Keep a good maintenance on the plumbing system, fix any drips as soon as possible (www.businesslink.gov.uk) Introduce dish washing machines and laundry machines which use final rinse water for prewash of next load. Use of a food thawing machine instead of running water for faster thawing. (Georgia hospitality environmental partnaship.1996) Adapt the hotel water system to be able to re-use the water for gardening and other non-drinking purpose. (One Source.2009) Other general operations and actions By lowering the thermostat temperature by 2 degrees in the winter or raising it by 2 in the summer you will save a lot of energy. This is a technique used in many organisations in order to save without even noticing the change of temperature. (Keynote.2008) Review and update the hotels preventative maintenance in order to maintain standards which help the system to sustain the system efficiently. (www.gogreentravelgreen.com) Change all individual amenities in the guest bathrooms to automatic dispensers of eco-friendly products; these can be refilled upon usage. (www.4hoteliers.com) Re use the heat and steam of the kitchen and laundry to be re-used for public heating Calculate the energy usage and assess it against available industry benchmarks in terms of per guest night or CO2 (carbon dioxide) generated. (www.tourismpartnership.org) Below it shows actions taken by some of the hotels in United Kingdom, in order to be an eco friendly property. Derwentwater Hotel, Keswick has been following eco friendly prospectors and has been one of the greenest hotel in United Kingdom. They have introduced water saving measures, energy saving measures and waste reduction methods by gaining support from staff, guests and the local communities. (Georgia hospitality environmental partnaship.1996) Also, Radisson Edinburgh has replaced their ordinary light bulbs to energy efficient lights at a cost of $2,307, as a result the first year savings were $27,889. (www.environmentalleader.com) this is a perfect example towards energy conservation, it clearly shows although it costs in order to take action, at the end of the process it save more than 10 times of the cost. According to environmental leader (2009) reports Hilton has announced their sustainability targets to reach by 2014, which includes the following, Reducing energy consumption from direct operations by 20 percent. Reducing CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions by 20 percent. Reducing output of waste by 20 percent. Reducing water consumption by 10 percent. Hilton has already introduced carbon-free electricity in United Kingdom and Ireland, they say it reduce CO2 emission by more than 64,000 tons, or 56 percent of its carbon footprint. They also managed to reduce energy and water consumption by 10 percent over the last two years. According to economically sound reports Marriott hotels are planning to publish their environmental policies on the official website, and each hotel will list their eco friendly actions. They say this will encourage each hotel to discuss their specific environmental policies and share these with other individual hotels. This will encourage the whole hotel chain to be an environmental friendly property as an individual. How Structure and the design of hotels can help with environmental issues When planning the design and the structure of the building, the hotel can get help from government and private companies in order bring guidance and knowledge towards building an environmentally friendly building. In terms of design the following steps can be taken, Light or reflector roofs and exterior coatings can result an environment with a lower temperature. Planting shade trees on the south side helps to keep the building cooler in warm climates. Also it provides the guests an attractive and enjoyable environment. (my ton.1996) Install large windows and glass bricks in lobby and other public areas to maximise the use of natural light (www.businesslink.gov.uk) When designing guest rooms, installing thick curtains and carpets made with wool can retain the heat in order to conserve energy. Painting the walls in light colours (such as white, green) can help to reduce the temperature of the rooms. Also by installing reflective mirrors with reflective wall paint can facilitate natural lightning. Introduce water saving shower heads and sink faucet aerators, 2.5 gallons per minute (GPM) shower heads and 1.5 GPM aerators are recommended for water saving and guest satisfaction. Because less water flow showerheads causes guest complains. (Georgia hospitality environmental partnaship.1996) Design of the building should allow space for recycling, which encourages staff and guests to contribute towards the process. Key card systems control lighting, heating and air coolers when room not in use. Because of Key cards the hotel can make sure there wont be any electricity waste on a vacant room. (www.4hoteliers.com) When positioning equipment such as refrigerators, in order to get the best performance should avoid it placing next to heat sources (cookers, Owen) Adopt a water system that reuses the water for non-drinking purposes such as gardening purposes. In terms of structure the following steps can be taken. Thermostat should not be installed nearby heaters and other heat producing equipments, because this may calculate the building temperature incorrectly and increase the energy costs. (www.carbontrust.co.uk) Installing double or triple glazed windows will protect the heat sources inside the building. Furthermore proper insulation throughout the building will reduce energy consumption. Installing solar energy system to retain heat from the sunlight and make it one and only source of energy for the hotel. Use of timing devices on thermostats will control the energy produced by the radiators. In fact fitting reflective material behind radiators can reduce energy consumption. (ww.4hoteliers.com) Placing gas, electricity and water meters in individual departments allows the organisation to examine energy consumption of each department which helps them to take actions on energy waste and provide necessary improvement. When designing the structure of the building it should be in a way that invites natural light and air in to the building. (www.archinode.com) A research done by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system in United States have proved when designing the structure of the building use of steel superstructure is estimated environmental friendly than using concrete superstructures. Below it shows the negative impacts of concrete. A concrete superstructure would consume over three times more energy than a steel one. A concrete superstructure would consume almost six times as much as natural resources than a steel one. Production of a concrete superstructure would use more toxic than a steel superstructure. A concrete superstructure would produce over four times solid waste as a steel one. A steel superstructure is easier to recycle, producing more secondary useful product, than a concrete one. A concrete superstructure would pollute air over five times than a steel one. A steel superstructure would pollute water over three times than a concrete one. A concrete superstructure would contribute to global warming almost seven times more than a steel one. (www.archinode.com) Current legislations relating to environmental issues Environmental Protection Act 1990 Environment Act 1995 Environment Agency and Scottish Environment Protection Agency as the regulating bodies for contaminated land, abandoned mines, national parks, control of pollution, conservation of natural resources and conservation or enhancement of the environment.. (www.opsi.gov.uk) Energy conservation act 1996 This act was introduced to make provisions for energy conservations, future to to allow local authorities to implement a strategy to achieve improvement in energy efficiency (www.opsi.gov.uk) Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989 c.14 This act controls the methods of waste disposal with the Environment Agency or Scottish Environment Protection Agency and outlines the penalties (including seizure and disposal) for vehicles shown to have been used for illegal waste disposal. (www.products.ihs.com) Conclusion Being an environmental friendly property means that they save electricity, water, reduce solid waste while saving money and creating a healthy environment to the guest, staff and the management. In order to become a green property the organisation should the gain contribution from every parties such as staff, guests, local communities, local councils and other environmental friendly organisation. As a result the organisation can gain respect towards the idea of conserving the environment. From a business point of view this allows them to differentiate their products from rivals and attract more guests. Being a green property will not only gain guest respect, they will overlook at the hotel over the rivals. Further, by being environmental friendly the organisation can reduce costs on energy, water and waste, the money saved can be re invested in future development, research and staff incentives. This concept also leads towards staff satisfaction by building a pleasant, relaxed environment to work. Once the hotel adapts to environmentally friendly practices it will gain marketing opportunities and support by local media (magazines, newspapers and television programs). Also it allows the hotel to gain financial support and expertise form government organisations who helps green concepts. Furthermore all these efforts give an opportunity to achieve rewards and awards from hospitality bodies which the organisation can be proud of. The most important fact of all this whole process is that, it will contribute to protect our one and only earth. Chinese Philosophy and Poetry Essay

Chinese Philosophy and Poetry One of the most prevalent beliefs of the Chinese philosophies is that men are born good. People are naturally good unless they fail to develop their feelings and senses. Confucianism teaches that a lack of knowledge can be the cause to evil. In Poem 238, a woman named Chiang Yuan gave birth to the human race by sacrificing and praying to God. She bore her child easily because she sought after blessings from God. Confucianism teaches that good things will come to those who are good and do good. A. N. Whitehead’s quotation of a Cambridge vicar says, â€Å"For well-conducted people, life presents no problems. † The mother in the poem seemed to be well-conducted and therefore she was blessed with a painless, easy childbirth. It says that God gave her ease and blessed her because he was pleased with the sacrifice and prayer. The poem paints a picture of how even the animals protected the baby. This might be because of their view of being born flawless and without evil. This baby was protected by the animals because there was no evil in him. Hou Chi, the baby boy, grew up to be a wise man and continued to be blessed and prospered through his crops and farming. He would be considered to be the â€Å"superior man† because of his moral wisdom and his ability to tell right from wrong. Because he lived by his mother’s example and gave sacrifices to God, good things came to him. The power of moral example is strongly shown here. His mother first taught him the importance of sacrifice and prayer and through that, he learned to do the same and show respect and fear God. Another philosophy is the importance of filial piety and reverence. Parents are revered because they give life to their children and sacrifice much for them. The child brought honor to his mother by keeping her religious traditions. God was pleased by his actions and blessed him his entire life. This is a very ideal form of what a man can be like, but it is very unrealistic. If man were actually born good, then evil would not have such a major influence and affect everyday lives.

The Real Question Is Who Are You Essay - 925 Words

Jesselyn Wightman Professor Smith Composition II 1302 September 23, 2016 The Real Question is Who Are You? â€Å"Where Are You Going, Were Have You Been† by Joyce Oates, is one of most the craziest, unexpected plot twist of a story I have ever read. Through this short story you are narrated through the background of the ups and downs of a young girl’s life and through the strange encounter with a peculiar man. Joyce Oates will make you question, and feel alongside her main character as you try to grasp onto this strange fictional mystery. In the beginning of this plot twisted story, you are introduced to a young girl of the age of 15, named Connie. They introduced this protagonist as someone who cares to much about her appearance, and is often compared to her older more ‘perfect’ sister Judy. She often felt misunderstood and tended to not follow her families more traditional values. It goes on to introduce more characters like Eddie and her mom, but they don’t play much of a role in this story. It is not until near the end of this short story when she stays home from ‘the end of the summer’ family barbeque, that things start to pick up and you are introduced to the antagonist Arnold and his friend Ellie. Oates added a lot of suspense/twist to the story when she brought in Arnold (a stranger to Connie). Arnold was a guy who Connie ran into at the restaurant at one point in the story but who she soon forgot about since she was preoccupied with Eddie. Anyway, Arnold randomly showsShow MoreRelatedAn Insider Of The Subculture Know Hip Hop923 Words   |  4 PagesSmith is a 24-year-old African American male employee at Geico, as a Sales Representative and close friend.
